Meet Swindon Chiropractor, Sandra Davies

Dr Sandy Davies (Chiropractor)

My friends and family thought I was mad when I first started talking about becoming a chiropractor. In those days few people had heard about chiropractic so I felt that I was becoming part of a new and exciting form of healthcare in the UK.

Aged 17 I had no clear career path. A chance meeting at a careers conference in Edinburgh literally changed my life. I met the owners of an Edinburgh clinic which was known internationally and along with their father, were pioneers of the Chiropractic profession in the UK. They explained what Chiropractic was and what Chiropractors do and after spending some time at their clinic I decided that I would follow in their footsteps. Chiropractic seemed to be a very interesting and rewarding career to be involved in. I loved the idea of being able to help patients in a way that other professions couldn’t.

Chiropractic Training

I trained at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth. I was taught and inspired by some of the best chiropractors in the world and graduated in 1988. Ironically the first clinic I worked in was the Edinburgh clinic which had first ignited a passion in me for Chiropractic 5 years previously. Since then I have worked in clinics all over Scotland and England.

At Shaw Chiropractic Clinic

In practice I continually try to promote healthy lifestyles and help my patients achieve new levels of health rather than simply relieving their symptoms. There is nothing better than hearing a patient say they haven’t felt so good in years and by continuing their care on a maintenance basis many patients find long term health benefits.

More athletic patients find that their sport improves with respect to race times, fewer injuries and more stamina. Elderly patients report more mobility and feel younger.

I have no doubt that as I progress throughout my career I will continue to be amazed by the benefits of chiropractic and will continue to learn and broaden my knowledge base in order to help as many people as I can.

On A Personal Note

I am married to a supportive and understanding husband who doesn’t mind my frequent late night clinics, out of hours care or weekend absences for conferences and courses. My daughter is well aware of what mum does and practices fixing backs with her teddy bears and dolls!

I practice what I preach by having regular treatment at least once a month, following a healthy diet and keeping healthy generally.
